Top 5 Music and Audio Apps on Android in Kenya, Q3 2024

In the third quarter of 2024, the music and audio app market on Android in Kenya saw varied performance among the top five applications, according to Sensor Tower data.

Spotify: Music and Podcasts experienced a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting at around 35K in early July and peaking at nearly 79K by mid-July, before tapering off to approximately 33K by the end of September. Revenue for the app saw a peak of about $1.2K in early July and maintained a relatively steady range, closing the quarter at $1.1K. Active user numbers started at 365K, rising to 388K in mid-August, then dipping slightly to 356K by the end of the quarter.

Music Player & MP3 - DDMusic showed a consistent trend in weekly downloads, rising from 23K in early July and reaching a high of 54K in early August. By the end of September, downloads had stabilized at around 36K. Active users increased from 59K at the start of the quarter to a peak of 92K in mid-September.

Boomplay: Music & Live Stream saw its weekly downloads peak at 55K in late July before declining to about 25K by the end of September. Revenue was modest, peaking at $93 and generally hovering around the $50-$60 range. Active users remained robust, starting at 481K and peaking at nearly 500K in early September.

Tubidy Mp3 Music Downloader experienced a decline in weekly downloads, beginning at 22K and dropping to 14K by late September. Active users showed a similar trend, starting at 63K in early July and settling at 76K by the end of the quarter.

DJ Mixer Studio - DJ Music Mix had an interesting growth trajectory in downloads, starting at 8K and reaching a peak of 30K in early September, before declining to 19K by the end of September. Active users showed a strong upward trend, from 74K at the beginning of the quarter to a peak of 127K in mid-September.
